Application of potassium nitrate and salicylic acid improves grain yield and related traits by delaying leaf senescence in Gpc-B1 carrying advanced wheat genotypes

Grain protein content (GPC) is an important quality trait that effectively modulates end-use and nutritional characteristics of wheat flour-based food products. The Gpc-B1 gene responsible for the higher in grain. In addition to GPC, also generally associated with reduced grain filling period which eventually causes yield penalty wheat. main aim present study was evaluate effect foliar application potassium nitrate (PN) salicylic acid (SA) on physiological a set twelve genotypes, including nine isogenic lines carrying three elite varieties no gene, grown at experimental area Department Plant Breeding Genetics, PAU, Punjab, India. PN significantly increased number grains per spike (GPS) by 6.42 grains, days maturity (DTM) 1.03 days, 1000-grain weight (TGW) 1.97 g plot (YPP) 0.2 kg/plot.
